An advocate has been charged before a Milimani court with stealing Sh5.8 million.

Evans Asuga appeared before senior resident magistrate Zainab Abdul and denied the charge.

The charge against Asuga stated that on diverse dates between October 17, 2019 and February 5, 2020, being an agent of Mishak Mokua, he received the money but failed to hand over the amount.

The court heard that Asuga had received the money from the Ongicho Ongicho & CO equity bank account being an award from Court of Appeal ruling in civil case against National Water Conservation and Pipeline Corporation.

The court ordered him to deposit cash bail of Sh200,000 or a bond of Sh 1 million, to secure his release.

The matter will be mentioned on November 26, 2020.
