A Nigerian national has been charged with obtaining Sh17. 6 million from a businessman claiming he was in a position to help buy 50 kilograms of gold.

Yusuf Daniel Masara alias Dr Ibrahim Sacko appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku and pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The court heard that the Nigerian committed the offence on diverse dates between October 8, last year and January 19 this year at Kilimani Area in Nairobi.

It is alleged that he committed the offence jointly with others not before court and obtained Sh17.6 million from Elrais Ahmed Mohamed by falsely pretending he was in a position to help him buy 50kgs of gold.

He was released on a bond of Sh2 million or cash bail of Sh1 million pending hearing and determination of his fraud case.
