DUO DENY OBTAINING MILLIONS IN FAKE GOLD FRAUD.

A Kenyan and his Mali accomplice have been charged with obtaining over Sh7 million in fake gold fraud.

Chris Mugisha and a Mali national Albachary Mohamed alias Abdoulay Bashir appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

It is alleged that on February 17 this year at Delight apartments along Diani road in Kilimani within Nairobi County, jointly with others not before court, with intent to defraud obtained Sh 7,095,000 from Hwalla Karim.

The court heard that the duo falsely pretended that they were in position to export some 20 kgs of gold bars from Kenya to Beirut in Lebanon, yet they knew it was false.

Mohamed was also charged with being in Kenya illegally.

They were released on a bond of Sh2 million or cash bail of Sh1 million pending hearing and determination of their criminal case.

The court also directed them to deposit their passport in court.
