A Stanbic Bank executive officer and an accomplice charged with theft of motor vehicle have been detained at Capitol Hill Police for seven days pending a ruling on whether they will be released on bail.

George Ndeti Kikuvi and Stanbic Bank executive Banker Cliff Nyamohanga Nyambati appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi and denied two counts of conspiracy to commit a felony and theft.

They are accused of conspiring to steal a Toyota Hiace valued at Sh5.3 million from Farice Boyi. They allegedly committed the offence on diverse dates between February 2, 2021 and August 20, 2021 at an unknown place, jointly with others not before the court,

Prosecution accused the two with others not in court, on the same dates and at Industrial area, stole the motor vehicle from Boyi.

The prosecution opposed their release on bail on the grounds that the two had threatened to kill the complainant. Court that on January 21, 2022, Boyi was harassed at his home by unknown people.

He told the court that the accused persons had harassed him in presence of his wife and children.

“The complainant on the mentioned date was playing with his newborn baby and was abducted by unknown people, “said lawyer Nyangayo for the complainant.

The accused on the other hand requested that they be granted bail saying that the prosecution failed to present the names and the numbers of the people harassing them.

They further said that the complainant did not elaborate how he was harassed, but the intention was to frustrate them by ensuring that they remained in custody.

They said that they are bank officials and witnessed the employer making those transactions of that motor vehicle.
