A project architect at the center of multimillion building between payTV firm MultiChoice and a construction company has been charged conspiracy to defraud.

Kariuki Muchemi, a director of Interconsults Engineers ltd, was presented in court and denied charges of conspiracy to defraud, making a false and uttering false documents.

His arraignment brings to four the number of experts who have been charged with doctoring a report concerning a Sh895 million for MultiChoice Kenya, which has stalled since 2017.

Others are head of legal compliance MIH East Africa Lavender Lucky Waindi, Wilson Karaba, Wilson Munyu Karaba and Stanley Kibathi, an architect, Interconsults Engineers ltd, Connapex Consulting Engineers ltd and S.K Archplans, who have denied doctoring the structural report to defraud Cementers Kenya ltd.

All the accused persons appeared before Milimani Principal Magistrate Esther Kimilu.

The experts are accused of internationally altering a structural integrity investigation report on proposed construction of the office, an offence they allegedly committed on diverse dates between February 1 and April 13, 2017 at unknown place.

The said report was in favor of the structural engineers, Connapex Consulting Engineering ltd so that they could demand damages of Sh895 million from Cementers Kenya ltd.

Waindi is accused of inciting Muchemi to extract part of the structural Integrity investigation report, an offense she allegedly committed on April 6, 2017 at unknown place.

The charges stated that Muchemi presented a false structural integrity investigation report,with intent to deceive and defraud Cementers ltd.

They were released on a cash bail of Sh200, 000 or alternative bond of Sh500, 000 pending the trial.
