A city lawyer has been charged with forgery and uttering false documents with intent to defraud.
Simon Kamere appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo and denied commiting the offence with the intention of defrauding the estate of Pius Kimani Mwaura.
It is alleged that with intent to defraud and jointly with others not before court, Kamere forged a will dated May 29, 2014 purporting to be genuine will signed by the said late Mwaura.
The court heard that he committed the offence on or before May 29, 2014 at Ukulima Co-operative house, Haile Sellaise Avenue within Nairobi County
It is alleged that he also uttered the forged will to Monica Njoki Kimani, the daughter of the late Kimani, claiming that it was genuine. The charge sheet stated that he presented the will on March 17, 2014.
He was released on a bond of 1 million or alternative cash of half a million and the case will be mentioned on April 17 for further directions.
