APPOINTMENT OF KeNHA BOSS CHALLENGED BY LOBBY GROUP.

Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) Chairperson Eng Wangai Ndirangu.

BY SAM ALFAN.

A lobby group has moved to court to quash the appointment of Wangai Ndirangu as the chairperson of Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA).

Sheria Mtaani na Shadrack Wambui alleges that Eng Ndirangu is not qualified to serve in the KeNHA Board in any capacity.

The lobby group pleaded with the court to temporarily suspend Gazette notice No. 11055 issued on November 22, which appointed Wangai as the chairperson pending the determination of a case.

“Unless the court intervenes and grants the orders as sought Ndirangu will continue being in glare abuse of principles of good governance to wit rule of law transparency and accountability among others”, urges the lobby group.

Eng Ndirangu was appointed as the chairperson of the agency for a period of three years from November 12, 2019.

But the lobby group says the appointment did not meet constitutional values and procedures of the rule law, which includes fairness, inclusiveness, competitiveness, merit and openness.

The lobby says Ndirangu should vacate the office immediately.
