Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji has instituted extradition proceedings against a Kenyan wanted in the United Kingdom over sex related offenses.

The fugitive Anthony Kamau alias Anthony Kinuthia Kamau was arrested last Friday by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and was arraigned before Nairobi chief magistrate’s court today.

The prosecution led by senior assistant DPP Catherine Mwaniki applied to have the fugitive remanded at Anti-terrorism Police Unit for two days to enable the prosecution file extradition proceedings.

Evidence presented before court showed that the criminal charges were filed against the Kenyan before Chelmsford Crown court in the UK, and Ireland for seven counts in which he accused of influencing young children under age of 13 years into sexual practices.

He is also accused of defiling children aged under 13years.

He is facing seven counts before Chelmsford Crown court in the UK according to the extradition request.

The UK government made the request through their UK Embassy in Nairobi.
