Businessman who stole 620 bales of Kabras sugar worth over Sh 3 million while in transit has been charged.

Sammy Kiplagat Yego appeared before Milimani Magistrate Caroline Muthoni Njagi and denied the charges.

According to charge sheet produced in court, Yego is accused of stealing the sugar worth Sh 3,224,000, the property of Maisha Steel East Africa Limited.

Prosecution told the court that Yego committed the offence on May 25, 2022 along Kakamega -Nairobi Highway jointly with others not before court.

The accused is said to have stolen the said sugar from a KDG 678V Faw truck while the said property was in transit from West Kenya company ltd within Kakamega county to Siana Trading Company ltd within Nairobi City County.

He was released on a bond of Sh 1 million pending hearing and determination of his criminal case.
