BY IRENE ONYANGO.

An Egyptian citizen has been charged with illegally engaging in business.

Hassan Hamdi Saad Darweish appeared before Milimani Senior Resident Magistrate Wandia Nyamu and charged with engaging in business without a pass or permit.

Hamdi was accused of engaging in business on August 4, at Runyenjes in Embu County.

The court heard that Hamdi failed to register as a foreign national which led to him being found unlawfully present in Kenya.

It is further alleged that the accused failed to honour summons issued to him by the immigration officers who required him to ascertain his immigration status at Embu Regional office.

He denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of Sh500,000.

The case will be mentioned on August 25.
