The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has dismissed claims by Raila Odinga that Venezuelan Jose Camargo interfered with 2022 presidential election results.

The commission through lawyer Mahat Somane dismissed allegations made by Raila’s lawyer Julie Soweto that Jose Camargo interfered with presidential results.

Mahat told supreme court judges that the document displayed in court by Soweto contains a different QR register compared to Form 34A supplied to the commission by the presiding officer from the concerned polling station.

He further dismissed claims of interference of the public portal by Carmago as submitted by Raila’s legal team.

Mahat explained that the name of Jose Camargo appeared on IEBC forms as an overlay and the register of the QR code that was printed by Smartmatic was printed in the name of Jose Camargo.

President-elect William Ruto through his lawyer Fred Ngatia brought attention of Supreme Court that the forms presented by Soweto did not contain IEBC security feature and they were meant to deceive and mislead.

“My client (President-elect William Ruto) is the one who is likely to suffer most in case these sensational matters are not dealt with effectively. Starting with the date, that is more drama than reality. Agents made an innocent mistake,” said Ngatia.

He dismissed claims that the foreigner hacked and tampered with the forms uploaded on the public portal.

Soweto had demonstrated to the court how the tampering of the forms was done, further debunking assertions by Deputy President William Ruto’s legal team that PDF forms cannot be edited.
