Two women have been charged with obtaining over Sh175 million in a period of seven years from home buyers in pretext of selling them houses.

Mary Ndung’e Mutuku and Mary Wanjiru Ndung’u allegedly conspired to defraud investors including Michael Kariuki Wanjohi and Salome Wanjiru Kariuki who parted with a sum of Sh87,742,000 by falsely pretending that they were in a position to sell them houses at West Park police Estate.

They allegedly committed the offence between 2015 and 2022 within Nairobi County with others not before court,
Mutuku is also accused of forging an application letter for Wilson Mitumba Group on August 11, 2021 purporting to have been issued by the ministry of labour and social protection.

The charge stated that she obtained the letter with others not before court, with intent to defraud.

The court heard that within the 7 year period, the two accused had obtained millions from various victims while forging documents.

The duo will remain in custody pending a ruling on bond terms.
