A bodaboda rider has been charged with killing an MP though dangerous driving.
Philip Mweteli appeared before Milimani traffic Court magistrate Esther Kimilu and denied the charge levelled against him.
The rider knocked down the Banisa MP Kullow Maailim Hassan on March 25 when the two term legislator was walking. He succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment in hospital.
The charge sheet stated that Mweteli was riding the motorcycle dangerously, causing the death of the MP.
The incident occurred on 25th March 2023 at about 22.22hrs along Daidai Road in South B within Nairobi County.
The MP was rushed to Agha Khan Hospital but died, unfortunately.
The accused is also said to have failed to stop after being involved in a road accident.
The charge sheet said Mweteli also failed to report the accident at any police station or notify any police officer of the accident.
The court also heard that the accused rode the said motor cycle that was involved in the accident on a public road without a license.
He was released on a cashbail of Sh 300,000.
The case will be mentioned on 18th April 2023.
