Kapsaret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi may land himself in trouble over utterances he made yesterday at his Eldoret home deemed as promoting ethnic hatred.

This is after City lawyer Apollo Mboya wrote to the National Commission and Integration Commission over the remarks he says borders on ethnic contempt uttered by the MP at his home.

“Take notice that in the event of your failure to exercise your mandate within 24 hours of receipt of this letter, we shall commence the necessary legal proceedings against National Cohesion and Integration (NCIC) and the Member of Parliament including applying for the removal of the Commissioners of NCIC without further reference to you whatsoever and at your detriment as to attendant consequences,” said lawyer Mboya to the commission.

In the letter to the Samuel Kobia led commission, Mboya says the MP made the remarks on Saturday 1 April 2023 in the company of identifiable individuals.

The advocate says Sudi made the remarks while allegedly accompanied by MCAs, and uttered the words, among others, “Shame on you wajaluo na viongozi wajaluo, nyinyi ni wakumbafu.”

Lawyer Mboya says the words were intended and indeed incited feelings of contempt, hatred, hostility, violence and discrimination against the Luo community on the basis of ethnicity contrary to section 62 of the National Cohesion and Integration Act.

“I have enclosed a Compact Disc containing the video, which has been shared widely in social media and available on YouTube link,” Mboya told the commission.

The lawyer is requesting the commission to exercise its mandate pursuant to National Cohesion and Integration Act and take the necessary action against the Member of Parliament with a view to further averting contempt, hatred, hostility, violence and discrimination against the Luo community.

The MP was captured on a video at his home throwing tantrums which seemed to be directed to opposition leaders and protestors who have been engaged on anti-government demonstrations citing heavy cost of living.
