A Nigerian priest has been charged with stealing Sh28.7 million property of Stanbic Bank.

Apostle Wealth Ochelle alias Apostle Wealth who operates a church in Shanzu Mombasa county, appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina and denied charges.

The charge sheet stated that Ochelle conspired to defraud Stanbic Bank Ltd Sh28,779,600 from the bank, an offence he allegedly committed jointly with others not before court, on diverse dates between the November 8, 2022 and November 30, 2022 at unknown place in Kenya.

The prosecution further informed the court that Ochelle dishonestly received Sh340,000 into his Safaricom M-Pesa account number but retained it, knowing or having reason to believe it to be stolen or unlawfully obtained.

It is alleged that he committed the offence on diverse dates between November 4 and 10, 2022 at unknown place in Kenya.

The preacher was released after posting bond of Sh500,000.
