TRADER DENIES DEFRAUDING RICE SUPPLIER.

A Nairobi trader has been charged with obtaining rice worth Sh43 million worth through fraud.

The court heard that Samwel Njenga obtained the rice with intent to defraud.

He appeared before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi and denied the charges. 

The charge stated that Njenga obtained 15,873 bags of Pakistan rice from Abdirizak Abdulahi Maalim on diverse dates between 10th October and 16th November 2020 at Industrial area within Nairobi County.

It is alleged that he committed the fraud jointly with others before court.

The rice is said to have been packed in 25kgs and was valued at Sh 43,870.350 from Maalim.

The court heard that upon getting the package, Njenga pretended that he was in a position to pay for the said goods.

He was released on a cashbail of Sh 3,000,000.

The case will be mentioned on July 26.
