A digital credit analyst working for Absa Bank Ltd has been charged with conspiracy to commit a felony.

Evance Onyango Ogolla was charged with conspiracy to steal Sh3,389,000 from the lender, an offence he allegedly committed between 17th November and 20th November this year at unknown place.

It is alleged that he committed the offence jointly with others not before court.

The bank employee was further accused of stealing Sh1,627,069 which came to his possession by virtue of his employment. It is alleged that he stole the money at the bank’s head office in Westland.

Ogolla denied the charge when he appeared before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi, who ordered him to deposit cash bail of Sh600,000 in court, to secure his freedom.

The case will be mentioned on December 8, for pretrial hearing.
