The hearing of a criminal case against the owner of a multi million payment solution firm has been pushed to next month.

Trial magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi allowed the application by complainant, Rwandese Desire Muhinyuza, to postpone the hearing because his wife was allegedly unwell.

The court heard that Muhinyuza ‘s wife has been unwell for the last fifteen days and has returned to Kigali.

Muhinyuza is the key witness prosecution on Koome’s trial and is expected to lay basis.

The court adjourned the matter to December 13.

Muhinyuza through his lawyer Danstan Omari applied for the adjournment of the matter which was supposed to commence Friday.

According to the charge registered in court, Karimi Koome is accused of conspiring to defraud Muhinyuza by falsely representing himself as the owner of USD 2,619,583, which was merchant funds.

It is alleged that he committed the offence on diverse dates between 10th July, 2023 and 4th October, 2023 in Nairobi, jointly with others not before Court and with intent to defraud.

Koome was further charged with stealing USD 100,000, which belonged to Stay Online, which had been entrusted to him for payment of taxes on behakf of the firm.

The charge sheet indicated he stole the money on the 11 day of July, 2023 in Nairobi.

It is further stated that on the 12 day of July, 2023 at United Bank of Africa in Nairobi Koome being a Director of Stay Online Company and with intent to defraud, Koome made a false entry in a document for payment of USD 100,000 to his USD Account domiciled at Equity Bank, Meru Branch purporting it to be for payment of provision of Taxes for Stay Online Ltd (K).

Koome is out on a cash bail of Sh 500,000 pending his trial.
