The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has recommended ten magistrates and two top prosecutors for the appointment of Judges of the High Court.
The 12 are among 20 men and women that impressed the JSC commissioners after rigorous interviews, which were conducted in April.
Among the lucky one are former long-serving Milimani chief magistrate and currently machako’s based Francis Andayi, Wendy Kagendo (currently Milimani Commercial Chief Magistrate), former JSC commissioner and chief magistrate Emily Ominde and Linus Kassan.
Also nominated as judges are Joe Mkutu, senior principal magistrate and Deputy Registrar mediation Caroline Kendagor, Stephen Mbungi, Julius Nangea, Julius Nga’rng’ar and John Tamar.
From the Director of Public Prosecutions, the JSC picked veteran lawyer and senior assistant Director of Public Prosecution Alexander Muteti and his colleague Tabitha Ouya.
Also recommended to become a judge is Moses Otieno, a manager in charge of prosecution at Kenya Revenue Authority.
From the private practice, the JSC picked Roda Ruto, Noel Inziani, Benjamin Njoroge, Helene Namisi, Andrew Mwamuye, Benjamin Musyoki and Alice Soi.
The JSC has since forwarded the names to President William Ruto for appointment although the President’s role is purely facilitative as the recruitment process is insulated from interference by any organ of the state.
