A case pitting five IEBC officers are charged with Sh200 million fraud will be heard on August 1.

The five are accused of colluding to corrupt the substance of a tender submitted to the electoral commission by Solarmark Technologies, which was unqualified for the contract.

it is said that they fraudulently acquired 30,000 solar lanterns used in the 2013 general election.

They are procurement manager Willy Gachanja Kamanga, Adan Katello Adano, Kennedy Guanye Ochae, Abdi Elema Ali and Gabrial Ngonyo Matunga.

They are charged together with Benson Gethi Wangui and Joyce Makena of Solamark Technologies, a fictitious firm.

The officers are also charged with changing price tags for the lanterns submitted by Solamark Technologies to ensure it won the lucrative contract.

The accused are each out on bond of Sh1 million with an alternative cash bail of Sh700, 000.

Proceedings resume.
