Businesswoman Esther Passaris is seeking an order compelling IEBC to commence investigations against Miguna Miguna.

She wants the commission to establish whether the Miguna Miguana should be cleared to contest for the position of Governor for Nairobi County or elsewhere in the Republic of Kenya.

In a defamation suit against Miguna Miguna, Passaris through lawyer Gitobu Imanyara argues that during a talk show aired in one of the local television, Miguna Maliciously unleashed a tirade of highly defamatory insults as well as malicious and highly defamatory falsehoods against her.

“The conduct of Miguna Miguna using his twitter handle before and during the talk show “Jeff Koinange Live” hosted by Jeff Koinange and aired on KTN was libelous, defamatory, malicious, scandalous and injurious to the Plaintiff’s reputation and repugnant to the provisions ofChapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya as well as the provisions of the Leadership and integrity Act, “argues Passaris

IEBC, Law Society of Kenya, Advocates Complaints Commission and the media council have been named as interested parties in the suit.

Passaris also want the Law Society of Kenya and Advocates Complaints Commission institute disciplinary proceedings against the Miguna arising out of his conduct in the talk show.

She argues that the contents of the tweets by Miguna have caused the her and her family much distress as she was depicted as a scoundrel, a member of a cartel, a thief, a looter & a drug pusher, contrary to the reputation she has worked hard to cultivate over a long time, and that is of a caring mother, a hardworking entrepreneur and an aspiring candidate for the position of Governor for Nairobi County.
