Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has said that Kenya and Omani will continue to foster cultural and brotherly relations existing between the two friendly countries.
During an Omani music night, the cabinet Secretary Najib Balala welcomed the Omani oil and gas minister Dr Muhammad Bin Hamad Al Rumhy and the Omani royal group at Fort Jesus Mombasa.
The group entertains the guests with Omani musical which impressed many Kenya with pop and dance.
“We continue to cherish our historical ties, shared heritage and look forward to enhancing our brotherly relation between our two countries,” said CS Balala.
Among those present, Kenya Ambassandor to Omani sheikh Dor and omani envoy to kenya Swaleh suleiman al harthy.
Last Sunday Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala led other senior government officials in welcoming the docking of the Omani Royal Ship, Fulk Al Salamah, into Mombasa port.
Fulk Al- Salamah, which means Ship of Peace, is an amphibious transport and logistics ship, assigned to the Royal Yacht Squadron of Oman. The ship is designated on this trip to serve on a cultural tour of historic proportions and retraces the trader’s routes which the Omani would ply in the Eastern Coast of Africa.
The ship’s journey commenced from Muscat to Zanzibar and Dar-es-Salam, before docking in Mombasa this morning on a 4- day tour.
As a mission of peace, various activities have been prepared to celebrate a joint culture that is recognized both in countries.
While welcoming the Minister of Oil and Gas of the Sultanate of Oman and his delegation to Mombasa, CS Balala thanked the Omani government for sending this peace ship to Kenya and stated that this visit will strengthen the ties between the two countries.
He noted that the cultural ties between Kenya and Omani date back to the 12th century, bringing about many benefits like the formation of the Swahili culture and language.
Also present to welcome the Omani ship was the Managing Director of Kenya Ports Authority, among other dignitaries.
