Transfer this case to a court in Nanyuki, Judge orders former MP.

Justice John Mativo also ordered the government to stop confiscating or killing herders’ livestock.

The suit is to be transferred to Nanyuki High Court for hearing and determination, where the alleged incident took place.

“To hear this case in Nairobi violates the regulation rule requiring every petition to be filed within where the jurisdiction of the alleged violation took place,” Mativo ruled.

Former Laikipia North Member of Parliament Matthew Lempurkel moved to court seeking orders stopping the police from killing their livestock.

The petition was filed following that killing of over 300 cattle by police during a raid.

Lempurkel also wants the government to compensate the pastoralist’s community.

The former legislator claims that Police have been conducting security operations in Laikipia that have led to destruction of property, killing of livestock and disruption of livelihoods of pastoralists.
