A middle aged man has pleaded guilty to stealing 105 shillings from Kenyatta National Hospital on January 3, 2018.

Paul James Mwangangi pleaded guilty before magistrate Mutuku and requested the court to accord him lenient sentence because he is a father of seven children who depends on him.

The prosecution says that the man stole a purse belonging to a nurse containing 105 shillings and the purse all valued at 1,105 shillings belonging to Oyunge Cement Harriet.

Mwangangi faced another count of handling stolen goods contrary to the law on similar dates and place. He was accused of dishonestly retaining a pulse having reason to believe it was stolen goods.

The court heard that Kemunto was on duty at the hospital at doctors’ room 3 when she left the said room.

When he saw the doctor, Mwaura is said to have left the room where the nurse realized that her handbag was missing.

Security guards responded leading to the arrest of the accused after nurse complained that her handbag and 105 shillings was missing.

Magistrate Mutuku referred the matter to probation officer who is to consider whether to grant Mwangangi an out of court sentence.

The matter will be mentioned on 12th January.
