A lecture at Moi University has been charged with obtaining credit worth over 900,000 shillings.

Beatrice Omunga Ohutso Imbaya appeared before Milimani Chief magistrate Francis Andayi and denied the fraud charge.

The prosecution alleges that the accused who is a senior lecturer in the department of tourism incurring a debt or liability to Peter Nganga Chege to the amount of Sh 986,689 by falsely pretending that she will refund 12 air tickets for Nairobi Girls Chorale after a concert in Chicago, USA.

The lecturer who is also the Patron of the Nairobi Girls Chorale is alleged to have committed the offence on May 21, 2016 at Best Travel Limited in Nairobi.

It is said that she has been participating in the planning and travel arrangements of the choristers.

Andayi ordered Omunga to be released on a cash bail of 200,000 pending hearing and determination of the criminal trial.
