KIAMBU MCA DENIES FORGING ACADEMIC CERTIFICATES.

A Kiambu MCA has been charged in a Nairobi court with forging his academic certificates.

Robert Githongo Kibe was accused of deceiving the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission about his academic qualifications, ahead of the 2017 general elections.

Kibe, the Kiamangi ward MCA is accused of indicating in his self-declaration form dated March 1, 2017 that he had a genuine diploma from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, which he claimed was awarded to him in 2015.

He is alleged to have committed the offence on 2nd March 2017 in Nairobi. Kibe is also charged with providing false information to the EACC by stating that he was awarded the said diploma.

The MCA is further accused of making a false Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) purporting it to be genuine issued by the Kenya National Examination Council. He is alleged to have committed the offence on December 29, 2014, with intent to defraud.

The DPP has further preferred a charge of uttering the false KCSE certificate to JKUAT.

Lastly, Kibe is charged with making a false statutory declaration on 1st March 2017 by indicating that he held the said diploma.

The case will be mentioned on November 31 for pre-trial.

He denied the charges when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi and was granted a bond of Sh 1 million or a cash bail of Sh 800,000.
