A Nairobi magistrate has ordered Devolution PS Julius Korir to present himself before court next week to answer to charges of assault.

Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Susan Shitubi ordered the embattled PS to appear before court on February 10 over charges of assaulting his wife Evelyn Chepkorir Koech.

The charge sheet tabled in court states that the PS assaulted his estranged wife on September 17,2020 at Ndalat Road in Karen thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.

The PS failed to stop his prosecution last year after High Court Judge Anthony Mrima dismissed his application saying the state was right in mounting a prosecution against him with the offence of assault and injuring his estranged wife Koech while she was expectant.
In his decision, Mrima said Korir did not show how the DPP violated the Constitution by authorising his prosecution.
The PS had approached the court seeking to stop the DPP and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations from arresting and prosecuting him in connection with the criminal offence, saying it is in bad faith and infringement of his constitutional right.
