A house help and an accomplice have been charged with stealing Sh32.7 million from her South Sudanese employer.

Ruth Kageha Livole, a house-help, was charged together with Violet Engesia Aluse with stealing the money in US currency from the residence of Atong Amos Agok Juac in Karen.

The court heard that the duo stole three golden rings and US $280,000, totaling to Sh32,740,600.

The two are alleged to have committed the offense on diverse dates between April 15 and 21 2022 at Tipuwana Apartments in Karen, Nairobi, jointly with others not before court.

Livole was also charged with possessing stolen property. The court heard that during her arrest on April 29, 2022 at Kamukuywa in Bugoma county, she was in possession of US $250,000 believed to be part of the stolen money.

Aluse was found in possession of US $5,000, when she was arrested on the night April 28, in Riruta, Nairobi.

They both denied the charges when they appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi.

The court granted them cash bail of Sh2 million each and the case will be mentioned on May 23, 2022.
