Chief Justice Martha Koome has reshuffled a number of magistrates that has seen Milimani Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo moved to the Milimani Commercial Magistrate Court in the same capacity.
Kagendo will be replaced by Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina who was the presiding Magistrate at the Jomo Kenyatta Intermational Airport law court.
In a mini transfer, Milimani Anti-Corruption Chief Magistrate Elizabeth Juma has been transferred to Nakuru Law Courts.
Juma.has handled high profile case including jailing Sirisia MP John Waluke and his business partner Grace Wakhungu over fraud. The two are currently out on bond after moving to the court of appeal.
Also moved in the changes is a commissioner Everlyne Olwande who is representing magistrates at the Judicial Service Commission.
Olwande was transferred from Mavoko law courts to Family division at Milimani law courts.
Milimani Commercial Chief Magistrate Cosmas Maundu has been transferred to Bungoma, while Kajiado Senior Resident Magistrate Becky Cheloti has also been transferred to Milimani Commercial courts.
She will be replaced by Principal Magistrate Edgar Kangoni .
The children Court’s has also been affected by the transfers with principal Magistrate Elizabeth Muiru being transferred from Kilungu to Milimani Childrens Court, while Senior Resident Magistrate Hellen Siika was moved from Milimani Childrens to Machakos law Courts.
Others affected includes former Commercial Chief Magistrate Peter Gesora who has been transferred from Bungoma to Machakos, Chief Magistrate Lucy Ambasi who has been transferred from Busia to Embu, Chief Magistrate Edna Galoti from Nakuru to Busia, Embu Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti has also been transferred to Kisumu, Machakos Chief Magistrate Evans Kiago has been transferred to Nyahururu law Courts.
The transfers at the Judiciary comes after the Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji shuffled prosecutors in various stations.
Haji named new prosecutors for 119 stations in changes announced on December 22.
Among those affected by the DPP transfers included Magdalene Ngalyuka as regional head in Western, Peter Kiprop in Coast, and Ahmed Hassan to North and South Rift and moved Joseph Kimathi to Appeals Division.
Tom Ogweno was moved and named the head of the complaints and compliment division, Rodah Amulele (deputy head of Internal Quality Assurance), Christine Gakobo (deputy head of Prosecutions Training Institute), Mercy Wanjiru (head of the anti-corruption division) and Christine Nanjala (judicial review and human rights division).
Others include Alexander Yamina (deputy regional head of Coast), Lilian Gichuhi (head of Siaya), Joel Chirchir (head of Nyamira), Felister Njeru (head of Tharaka Nithi), Bonny Okemwa (head of Taita Taveta), Jackson Motende (head of Machakos), Maari Jane Kemunto (head of Kirinyaga), Brian Ayodo (head of Kisii) and Edward Matisi (head of Marsabit).
