Three police officers have been detained at Central Police station pending ruling on whether they should be held for more days as investigators probe them over robbery with violence.

Sergeant Daniel Wambua Muthini , Stanley Gitonga Mohamed (police Constable) both attached at the DCI Kasarani and corporal Eliud Kipkirui Bor working SGB at Uhuru camp under AP command were arrested in city centre for attempting rob Hassan Omar of Afro limited, who operates a forex bureau at Lornho house along Kaunda street.

They were presented before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Benard Ochoi as the police asked for more days to complete investigations.

The court ordered them to be detained pending a ruling on the application.

Muthini was in charge of armery at Kasarani police station and the DCIO Kasarani confirmed to the investigating officer that the officers had not been assigned any duties.

The investigating officer Joseph Ameru told the court he was probing claims of robbery with violence against the three officers.

Hassan said he was confronted after he withdrew Sh2 million at Queensway Absa branch.

Officers from the Nairobi region on mobile duty managed to pursue the suspects who were using a Toyota Premio KBZ 036Z, and intercepted them along Kiambu-Nairobi road and put into custody.

Preliminary investigations shows that Hassan had withdrawn the money to enhence his operations at the forex bureau.

He was confronted on his way out of the bank by the three officers and in the process a tussle arose but Hassan managed to pass the bag containing money to his security guard.

The officer told the court that he needs to interrogate and record statements from Absa bank Manager, security guard and CCTV footage among others.

It was further revealed that one suspect is yet to be arrested.
