Gospel artist Holy Dave has been charged with with assaulting a city businessman.

David Musyoki Kimanthi alias Holy Dave appeared before Kibera Magistrate Jacqueline Ojwang and denied the charges.

Kimanthi was charged with assaulting Keem David, an offence he allegedly committed on October I, last year at Gemini Lounge Adlife plaza along ring road in Kilimani.

The prosecution told the court that the singer caused the businessman actual bodily harm, when he accosted him.

The musician informed the court that he was negotiating with the victim to have the matter settled out of court.

“I am trying to pursue an out-of -court settlement with complainant,” he said.

According to police report, the victim was having fun at the said Lounge together with his two friends and were seated at the VIP section.

His lawyer Hillary Apollo said the victim wad talking with his friends and a friend, who was seated at another corner decided to join him at his table but was restrained by a bouncer.

Holy Dave is said to have emerged from a different table and shouted at the victim asking him why he was not defending his friend from the security man.

The accused is said to have hit the victim on the left side of his face using a glass of beer glass and the victim tried to cover his face using a shield he was carrying on his hand.

The victim started bleeding and he sustained a deep cut on the left side of the face near the eye and his clothes were soaked in blood.

The victim was assisted by his friends who used a sweater top to try and stop the bleeding.

The matter was reported at Kilimani police station. Prosecution has listed five witnesses to testify against him.

Dave is out on Sh10,000 cash bail.
The matter will be mentioned on January 23.
