A businessman has been charged with defrauding a woman of Sh26 million.
Joseph Kiema Kwia appeared before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi and denied the charges.
It is alleged that Kiema defrauded Marianne Kamau of Sh26,075,000, with others not before court.
It is alleged that he committed the offence on diverse dates between Feb 1, 2022 and July 30, 2023 at unknown place in Kenya, by purporting that the money was for a non-existing conduct of a civil case at Milimani law courts by one David Chege Mboche.
It is alleged that the money was meant for filing fees and representation.
Kiema was also charged with alternative count of stealing the money.
The court ordered him to post bond of Sh3 million or a cash bail of Sh2 million, to secure his release.
