A Narok resident has been charged with stealing Sh 4.9 million from the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) after the money was accidentally sent to his bank account.

Michael Santeto Tiampati was presented before Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi for allegedly stealing from the UN body.

The charges stated that Tiampati stole the Sh4,985,879 from FAO, after it was erroneously sent to his bank at KCB Moi Avenue Branch.

The court heard that he committed the offense on the 22nd August 2022, jointly with others not before court.

He was released on a cash bail of Sh 300,000.
