An elderly man has been charged before a Milimani court with conspiracy to defraud.
John Wandurwa Gichane appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina and denied the charges levelled against him.

Wandurwa was charged with conspiracy to steal Sh 600,000, from Gichane and Sons Ltd, an offence he allegedly committed on diverse dates between November 25, 2022 and December 22, 2022 jointly with others not before court.

The elderly man was further accused of forging extracts of minutes of a board of directors’ meeting of Gichane and Sons, allegedly held on November 25, 2022 purporting it to be genuine and valid document signed by Samwel Gichane Wandurwa.

He was further charged with stealing Sh400,000 at National Bank Ltd , Harambee Avenue Branch being a director of Gichane and Sons Ltd.

While applying for bond terms, his lawyers said the accused person is a brother to the complainant. The advocate, therefore, sought for time to settle the matter out of court.

The lawyer further argued that Wandurwa has an ailing wife and is required with a hospital bill of about Sh1.5 million.

The prosecution said they were not contesting the application for his release on bond and the plea to settle the matter out of court.

The case will be mentioned on 22nd February for further directions.
