City lawyer Bryan Khaemba has defended a Tanzanian man at the centre of a succession battle saying he has not intermeddled with the estate as claimed.

Khaemba said Bakari Kisalu Malanda is an adopted son of Wilfred Alfred Mutilangi, who died mysteriously last year and his body cremated.

Malanda was arrested and charged with intermeddling with property of Mutilangi, who died while undergoing treatment in United States of America.

Lawyer Khaemba told the press that Malanda has been taking care of Mutilangi.

“My client is innocent, the deceased had taken him as an adopted son to take care of him and his properties here in Nairobi.
The so-called brothers and sisters they were not aware when the deceased came back to Kenya and when he left Kenya before he died,” said lawyer Khaemba.

He added that when Mutilangi died, it was Malanda who was given information by the hospital as the next of kin as declared by the deceased when he was undergoing treatment.

“The family, the brothers and sisters came to learn when the deceased had already passed on and his body cremated,” said Khaemba.

He added that the Tanzanian was in a good relationship with the deceased.
