An elderly man has been charged with intent to defraud a farmers society of a parcel of land valued at Sh11 billion in Mavoko.

Jeremiah Mutisya Paul was accused of trying to defraud Drumvale Farmers Cooperative society of the land in Mavoko.

He denied the charge when he appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Robinson Ondieki.

Mutisya is accused of intending to defraud the society of their parcel 452 hectares of land IR 20982 LR 8529/1 situated in Mavoko Machakos county, an offence he committed on unknown dates.

He was further accused of falsifying a certificate of lease without lawful authority for the said land purporting to be a genuine and valid document issued by the Registrar of Titles.

The prosecution told the court that in an unknown place and time Mutisya jointly with others not before court, willfully procured the certificate of lease for the said parcel of land.

He was released on a cash bond of Sh1 million or alternative cash bail of Sh600, 000.

His lawyer told the court there is a matter pending in the High court in Machakos over the same issue.
