A 29-year old man has been charged with impersonating former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.
Newton Paul Kengere is alleged to have impersonated Sonko on Facebook to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
The court heard that he created the Facebook account in the Name Hon. Mike Mbuvi Sonko Rescue Loans without authority from the former county boss.
He has been conning unsuspecting members of the public thousands of shillings in a fake educational loan scheme.
Kengere is alleged to have committed the offense on 15th September 2023 at unknown place within the Republic of Kenya.
After denying the charges Kengere asked the court to settle the matter amicably.
However, the office of the Director of Public Prosecution promised to give the feedback on the application on 13th May 2024.
