A man has been charged in a Nairobi court for stealing laptops believed to belong to IEBC.

Khalif Kiprotich Kirui is said to have stolen the two laptops, property belonging to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

It is alleged that on December 23 2016 at a total petrol station (Tetra park) along Enterprise road in Nairobi, Kirui was found in possession of the two laptops make Intel properties being reasonably suspected to be stolen or unlawful obtained from IEBC.

Kirui was however released on a Sh100, 000 cash bail or a bond of Sh200, 000.

According to a police file, on December 13 2016, police officers on duty were given tip off that there was a suspect who was in possession of laptops suspected to be of IEBC as an employee of IEBC or a potential buyer.

It is alleged that the suspect was ambushed and arrested in possession of the two laptops at total petrol station.

Two police officers are among six witnesses listed by prosecution.

The matter resumes for hearing on February 8.
