The Director of Public Prosecution is under sharp criticism for clearing Auditor General Edward Ouko’s name in an alleged corruption scandal.
Mr Keriako Tobiko says that he demonstrated his independence and objectivity as opposed to accusations that he was influenced.
He says that his decision was made without any influence from any person.
However DPP says that investigations over alleged misappropriation of public funds is still under active investigations
He says he is yet to receive a report from EACC on the said matter and therefore cannot comment on the issue substantively.
The Dpp was replying to case in which the high court stopped Parliament from debating Ouko’s possible removal from office.
High Court judge Chacha Mwita issued the orders stopping the National Assembly’s Finance Committee from discussing a petition against Ouko by lawyer Emmanuel Mwagambo until the determination of a case filed by activist Okiya Omtatah.
The judge stopped National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi and parliament from adopting or discussing any recommendations made by the committee concerning the Auditor General.
In February this year Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko thwarted a spirited campaign to prosecute Auditor General Edward Ouko over procurement irregularities in acquiring the software used to unravel the full scope of the National Youth Service scam.
