Two directors of a firm that deals with alcoholic beverages have been charged with possession of excisable goods affixed with counterfeit exercise stamps.

Joseph Mwangi and Juliana Wairimu Wanjiku, the directors of Julijo Investments ltd appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo and denied the charges.

The charges stated that they were found in possession of 9,900 bottles of fighter extra vodka of 250ml each and 8,094 bottles of King Horse Vodka, all affixed with counterfeit stamps.

The illegal stamps occasioned KRA losses of Sh1,192,102 of excise duty and a further loss of Sh446,747 of value added tax.

The court heard that they committed the offence on October 31, 2021 at Kasarani in Nairobi County.

The dealers of the wines and spirits were released after posting cash bail of Sh100,000.
