ILLEGAL LIQUOR DISTILLER CHARGED WITH DESTROYING EVIDENCE.

24 people have been charged with manufacturing unlawful goods and destruction of evidence among other offences before a city court.

The charges stated that they were found manufacturing unlawful goods on August 24 this year at Kongoni 1 business park Go down in Athi River sub-county in Machakos County.

According to the charges, the 24 were jointly with others not before court found with five bottles of 250ml each of Everest Vodka without an excise license or being registered by the commissioner as required under the excise duty Act.

The accused persons included Justus Mwosa, Patrick Muoka, Benson Odaba, Henry Mwangi , Harrison Maina, Leonard Wafula , Fredrick Balongo, Aluke Okedi and Samuel Indago among others.

They are also accused of willfully destroying ethanol and other alcoholic beverages plus production apparatus, which was to be used as evidence.

The charges further stated that they unlawfully and willfully obstructed police officers Reuben Wanyonyi, Teresiah Thirikwa and Alex Kiboi by locking up the Go down gates, denying the said officers access into the premises while they were in due execution of their duties.

The accused persons were released on bail after denying the charges.
