An administration police officer has been charged with personation.

Chief Inspector David Ochieng’ Onyango allegedly presented himself as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

The officer in his early 30s was accused that on unknown dates in December, 2012 at Administration Police Headquarters at Jogoo House Block “A” within Nairobi County, he informed Ms. Margaret Karanja, a person employed in the public service, as a police officer that he is an advocate of the high court of Kenya.

The accused was also charged with four other counts including fraudulently acquiring none practising allowance being a public property worth Sh2,469,193 from the government of Kenya.

He denied the charge when he appeared before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Zainab Abdul, who released him after posting cash bail of Sh500,000.

The case will be mentioned on October 10.
