Felix Orinda popularly known as DJ Evolve has told a Nairobi court that he did not see Embakasi MP Babu Owino with a firearm on the day he was shot at a night club in Nairobi.

Testifying in the trial against Owino, the deejay who alsmost lost his life during the incident told Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Benard Ochoi that he went to B Club on the 17th January 2020 for work as usual.

He said he was interacting with people including the second-term legislator who was in the club. He said he heard a gunshot and the next thing he knew was him being carried to a vehicle heading for hospital.

Deejay Evolve told the court that the MP had no gun when he met at the Club. Further, it was his evidence that he never saw the firearm.

Responding while being cross-examined by the prosecution, Orinda said he did not know who shot him but confirmed that he was injured by a bullet but couldn’t who fired the bullet came from since the club was parked with people.

A security personnel at the club confirmed that he was the one who kept Owino’s firearm in a safe and handed him back the firearm in his car as he rushed the shot deejay to the hospital.

The deejay confirmed that the legislator has been supporting his medical and upkeep expenses since the shooting incident happened in 2020, as a friend.

He further acknowledged the MP’s support throughout his healing journey saying that the politician has been supporting him to date.

“I receive medical, utility and my general well-being support from Babu and no other well-wisher has done the same for me,” Dj Evolve said from his bed during a virtual hearing.

Testifying in a virtual hearing, Dj Evolve told trial Magistrate that him and he has been friends with Owino since 2014 towards the beginning of 2015 and have remained friends ever since.
