An agent has been charged before a Nairobi court with obtaining Sh4 million from land buyers.
John Kuria Maina appeared before Milimani chief magistrate Lukas Onyina and denied the charges levelled against him.
The first count stated that Maina Sh4 million from Noel Njeri Ngure by falsely pretending that he would sell him a parcel of land.
The charge sheet stated that he committed the offence on diverse dates between February 1, 2021 and August 13, 2021 at at Mowlem area within Nairobi County.
It is alleged that he committed the fraud jointly with another who is yet to be charged.
Maina was also charged with obtaining Sh1.7 million from Lilian Muthoni Ngure claiming that he would sell her a parcel of land. The charges stated that he falsely obtained the money on 12th August 2021 at Mowlem area in Nairobi County.
The court was informed that the money was paid in three installments but upon completing payment, Muthoni was not given the land.
He was released on a cash bail of Sh500,000 and the case will be mentioned on July 18.
