A man from Bungoma has been charged with obtaining Sh3.4 million from a businessman claiming that he would ship hides and skins to Nigeria.

Kelas Galvood Wafula is accused of obtaining Sh 3,407,069 from Kamaldin Ibrahim Ahmed.

The accused is alleged to have committed the offence on diverse dates between October 21, 2021 and February 15, this year in Nairobi, with intent to defraud.

He denied the charges when he appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Ben Mark Ikhubi.

The court heard that the case emanates from a sour business transaction between the friends.

The magistrate directed Wafula to deposit a bond of Sh1 million with alternative cash bail of Sh 650,000 and provide one contact person.

The case will be mentioned on July 19 for pre-trial.
