PASTOR CHARGED WITH STEALING, IMPERSONATION AND ID FORGERY.

A pastor of Juja farm based church has been charged with stealing, impersonation and forgery of a National Identity Card.

Peter Irungu Mwangi alias John Kaguru Macharia appeared before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Esther Kimilu where he denied all the charges.

Irungu is accused that on 21st day of December this year at Stanbic Bank BuruBuru branch in Nairobi he stole Ksh420,000 from a Bank account belonging to John Kaguru Macharia property of the said Bank.

The court heard that on the same date at the same Bank, Irungu with intent to defraud he falsely presented himself to the bank’s management Cornel Oduor as John Macharia.

Irungu is also accused that on or before the 21st day of December this year at unknown place jointly with others not before court and with intent to defraud,he forged a National Identity Card belonging to the said Macharia.

According to the charge sheet presented before court , Irungu attempted to steal Kshs 435,000 from Macharia’s account.

Irungu is further accused of knowingly and fraudulently uttering a false National Identity Card belonging to Macharia and presenting it to the Stanbic Bank BuruBuru branch teller, purporting it to be genuine.

The Prosecution did not oppose an application for the accused to be released on bail.

He was freed on a bond of Kshs 800,000 or an alternative cash bail of Kshs 400,000
